Dr. Kevin McGruder

Antioch College's Dr. Kevin McGruder, assistant professor of history, was published in The New York Times discussing the role of the black press during the Civil War. An informative article discussing history, the power of the press and social change.

Karl Grossman '64

Karl was recently named to the Long Island Journalism Hall of Fame (along with Walt Whitman). Grossman credits his Antioch co-op at the Cleveland Press as his inspiration to go into journalism.

David Goodman '59

Every March, thousands descend upon the Edmund Pettus Bridge to commemorate the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery voting rights march, where state troopers beat nonviolent protesters in the event known as "Bloody Sunday." Earlier this month, Antioch alumnus and Board of Trustees member David Goodman ’59 joined the 14th Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage (including fellow Antioch alum Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton '60) to retrace history and pay homage to the lesser known heroes of the Civil Rights Movement.

Julie Ezelle Patton '79

Julie held a reading at the California College of the Arts as a part of the Writers Series (MFA Program in Writing). Patton is the author of Using Blue To Get Black, Notes for Some (Nominally) Awake, and A Garden Per Verse (or What Else do You Expect from Dirt?).

Harry O. Hempy '67

Harry has just announced that he is running for governor of the state of Colorado in November 2014 on the Green Party of Colorado ticket. Both of his parents were also Antiochians.

Nancy Mills '70

Nancy was interviewed by The New York Times about sharing her Antioch experiences and memories with her daughter via a new service called StoryWorth.
