Every minute matters. Your volunteer time not only makes a difference in the lives of students, but also demonstrates that Antiochians believe in and support an Antioch education.

Carrying the tradition of Co-op, Community, and Classroom into the 21st Century by connecting Alumni to students with two dynamic programs, AMP and PODIUM.

Alumni Mentor Program (AMP)

Antioch College’s Alumni Mentor Program (AMP) seeks to build meaningful relationships between experienced Alumni, recent grads, and current students with a focus on co-op support and development, community and career building activities.

Currently, AMP is available for 2nd and 4th year students (with exceptions). At this time this is the best way to work with co-op sequences. Students will enroll in AMP the Summer quarter of their 1st and 3rd years and be paired with a mentor the following Fall quarter.

For one time co-op explorations; based on geography or field, the AMP student will be provided contact information of AMP mentors in that field or geographic location with the purpose of learning more about that line of work or area.

Please be aware that the main objective of AMP is to provide advice, support, and information, not necessarily jobs.

Participation by both sides is voluntary; however, a few guidelines and goals are listed below to explain the process and expectations for alumni and students. We are building this program with you! 2015-2016 is our pilot year, please feel free to offer suggestions and feedback at anytime!

GOALS

  • Provide an after Antioch career and mentor service
  • Connect Alumni to one another
  • Build an Alumni:Student network
  • Assist students to acquire skills and tools needed to make sound career decisions
  • Establish and accomplish short and long-term goals, both personal and professional
  • Improve leadership, decision making, and interpersonal skills
  • AMPlify student experiences and build networks of support for their co-operative education and career explorations

AMP mentors are not required to provide housing or co-op employment opportunities.

SCHEDULE

Once the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) receives an AMP request from a student, they will work to provide 1-3 possible mentors. OAR will reach out to the AMP mentor to check availability and interest. OAR will e-introduce the student to the Alumni mentor. We will make reasonable efforts to match a student to a mentor from the same concentration or field; however, this is based on mentor availability and cannot be guaranteed.

This year long program is designed with the demands of being an Antioch student and busy Antiochian in mind.

You must connect a minimum of 4 times throughout the program, but you can decide when you’d like to meet and how you’ll spend your time.

Get creative! Go for coffee, attend an even in your area, and attend AMP events on campus.

How to AMPlify your connection? Skype and other video communication tools are a great way to connect virtually. Facebook, email and phone are also good communication tools.

PODIUM: Antiochian Speakers' Bureau

PODIUM provides faculty and students the opportunity to host distinguished Alumni and friends as speakers and experts in residence. These relationships between Antiochians, Friends, and the College are valuable links between the real world and the classroom. This kind collaboration is what our Mission looks like in action and goes far in the re-building of Antioch College. We also hope PODIUM increases connections between Alumni by providing a talented pool of speakers, workshop leaders, and subject experts for regional Chapter events.

Go a step further and become a mentor. Every three months Antioch students go out into the world to learn by doing, to bring theories into their lived experiences. It takes community to make sure students are supported and connected. Joining the Alumni Mentor Program (AMP) is a rewarding way to give back to Antioch College and students.

GOALS

  • Bring Alumni to campus to integrate their skills, abilities, and experiences into the Antioch Community and Classroom.
  • To support and deepen the curriculum and classroom.
  • To support the faculty and students in their endeavors.
  • Provide a resource to Chapters for presenters, workshop leaders, and subject experts.
